1. When a new cavity is processed, the workpiece surface should be checked first and cleaned with kerosene to prevent the oilstone surface from being contaminated with dirt and causing loss of cutting function.

2. When grinding coarse grains, proceed in the order of difficult to easy, especially some hard-to-grind dead corners and deeper bottoms should be ground first.

3. In order to prevent the mold workpiece from being undercut or having some fitting surfaces that need to be protected, you can use a saw blade to stick it or sandpaper to stick it on the edge, so as to get an ideal protection effect.

4. For workpieces with large flat surfaces or side planes, use an oil stone to remove the coarse grains and then use a straight steel sheet to do a light transmission test to check whether there are any unevenness or undercuts. If there are undercuts, it will make it difficult to demold the workpiece or the workpiece will be strained.

5. Some workpieces may be assembled together for polishing. First, grind the coarse grain or spark pattern of each workpiece separately, and then put all the workpieces together and grind them until they are smooth.

6. The shape of the grinding tool should be close to the surface shape of the mold to ensure that the workpiece is not deformed by grinding.

7. If the flat surface of the workpiece is polished by pressing sandpaper with a copper or bamboo piece, the sandpaper should not be larger than the tool area, otherwise it will grind places that should not be grinded. Grind the mold surface by pulling it back and forth, and keep the handle of the oilstone as flat as possible, not exceeding 25°; because the slope is too large, the force rushes from top to bottom, which can easily cause many rough lines on the workpiece.
